Hot Apostles
Hot Apostles
Energetic Denver-based band Hot Apostles unleashes melody-driven rock n roll with a modern edge. Blasting together elements of classic rock, punk and the blues, the group’s larger-than-life sound is rooted in catchy guitar hooks and rich vocal melodies. Lead singer Eryn Swissdorf’s versatile voice easily simmers in the sultry, the sweet and everything in between as she delivers lyrics about heartache, hope, humanity, good times and the vivid world. Guitarist and songwriter Tay Hamilton draws inspiration from ‘70s and ‘80s rock, inventing sizzling riffs boosted by musical powerhouse Joaquina “Roqui” Lluma’s driving, fiery bass lines. Hot Apostles puts out high-energy live performances and livewire, dynamic recordings that strike like lightning and bring audiences to their feet.

The band’s newest release, WTF is rock N roll? is a collection of seven songs that celebrate life’s wild party and capture the vitality of the band’s live show. Recorded at Madhouse Recorders in Leadville, CO, the album was engineered and cp-produced by Tim Stroh and showcases members’ collective talent as songwriters, arrangers and performers while shining a bright light into the hard, fast world of rock.

Hot Apostles got its start when multi-instrumentalists and music lifers Eryn and Tay started writing songs together as an acoustic duo gigging around the Denver area. Because both had been playing in punk and rock bands for most of their lives, they were already breaking the standard singer/songwriter mold. Together, they decided to go all out and crank up their volume with a killer rhythm section. Eventually joining forces with Argentinian-born, jazz-trained bassist Roqui, and the mighty sound of the band finally took shape. To bring even more intensity to their sound, the group also regularly enlists a range of talented local drummers. A favorite live band across the state of Colorado, Hot Apostles has performed at Belly Up Aspen, Bluebird Theater, 3 Kings Tavern, the Telluride Opera House and Hodies Half Note. The group was also nominated for Best Rock Band three years in a row by Denver Weekly’s “Westword.”
